Hearty gnocchi with caramelized onions, beef broth, melted cheese, and crisp French bread for dipping.

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
02 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
03 - 1 large sweet onion, thinly sliced

→ Aromatics and Cooking Liquid

04 - 1/4 cup dry white wine
05 - 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, minced
06 - 2 cups beef broth

→ Main Component

07 - 450 grams gnocchi
08 - Salt, to taste
09 - Black pepper, to taste

→ Garnishes and Serving

10 - 100 grams Swiss or Gruyère cheese, shredded
11 - 8-10 slices French bread, toasted

# Steps:

01 - Preheat oven to 200°C. In a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat, melt olive oil and butter. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until deeply caramelized and golden brown, approximately 20 minutes.
02 - Pour in white wine to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits with a wooden spoon. Stir in minced thyme and beef broth, then bring to a gentle simmer.
03 - Add gnocchi to the skillet. Stir occasionally and simmer over medium heat until gnocchi becomes tender and the sauce reduces and thickens, about 5 to 10 minutes.
04 - Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper. Transfer gnocchi and onions with sauce into a lightly greased medium baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with shredded cheese.
05 - Bake at 200°C for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
06 - Present hot, alongside toasted French bread slices for dipping.

# Notes & Tips:

01 - Caramelizing the onions thoroughly enhances the dish’s depth; patience during this step develops rich flavor.
