Dubu Jorim Korean Braised Tofu (Print-Friendly Version)

Pan-fried tofu in spicy soy-based sauce offers bold Korean flavor and a golden, tender bite with every serving.

# Ingredients:

→ Sauce

01 - 3 tablespoons soy sauce
02 - 0.5 tablespoon honey
03 - 0.5 to 1 tablespoon gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
04 - 120 milliliters water
05 - 2 garlic cloves, minced
06 - 1 green onion, thinly sliced

→ Main Ingredients

07 - 400 grams firm tofu, cut into thick slices and patted dry
08 - 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
09 - 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
10 - sesame seeds, for garnish

# Steps:

01 - In a bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, gochugaru, water, minced garlic, and sliced green onion, then whisk thoroughly. Set aside.
02 - Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Arrange tofu slices in a single layer and pan-fry until the underside is golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes. Flip each piece and cook the other side until golden.
03 - Pour the prepared sauce into the pan with the tofu. Allow the tofu to braise, occasionally spooning sauce over the pieces, until most of the liquid has been absorbed.
04 - Drizzle toasted sesame oil over the tofu and gently toss to coat. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, then serve immediately.

# Notes & Tips:

01 - For a milder flavor, reduce gochugaru to 1 teaspoon. For a vegan version, substitute honey with sugar or another plant-based sweetener. Use gluten-free soy sauce if needed. Non-stick pans prevent the tofu from sticking and breaking.
