01 -
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels, then season all sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and dried thyme.
02 -
Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until deeply golden and caramelized, approximately 10-12 minutes. Transfer onions to a bowl and set aside.
03 -
In the same skillet, arrange the chicken thighs skin-side down and sear for 3-4 minutes until the skin turns crisp and golden. Flip and cook the other side for an additional 2 minutes.
04 -
Evenly spread French onion dip over each chicken thigh. Top with reserved caramelized onions and sprinkle shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese across the surface.
05 -
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
06 -
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately accompanied by preferred side dishes.
